Technology and innovation are the engine for the economy, social advance, and the environment.

There is nothing wrong by questioning the old ways and to try new ones. To solve the problems we are facing right now, technology and innovation will play a huge role. Climate change, pollution, immigration, transport, and new sources of energy will be the challenges for technology and engineering in the near future.

The sooner we start to invest, the sooner they can get solved and the more we save on economics and the environment.

In the first place, we must more rely on our own knowledge and trust that we can make great things. We are great inventors; we need to believe in our potential. Dare to try and dare to fail. The European government should take the lead in challenging universities and companies and ask them for solutions. In return, the government needs to be prepared to pay for the solution or invest in the research and development of the solution.

Secondly, we do not need to tackle all the problems on our own; we do not need to find all solutions on our own. We can work together with other nations as equal partners to solve problems such as climate change. Problems like this should not be considered as a competition between nations, companies, or universities.

This kind of problems are bigger than any other competition; they are a competition of all of humanity against time.

And humanity cannot afford to lose.
