Our global position
The core values of the European Union are democracy, humanism and living in harmony with each other and with nature.
Our global position is thus that we will act accordingly in our relations with other nations and that we will defend those values around the world. Therefore, we will take our place in the world and position ourselves amidst the other nations as an equal.
The European nation will choose its own way of interaction with other nations. We are free to trade or not to trade with another nation. This freedom implies our responsibility that innocent people need protection from embargoes and trade restrictions on life saving products. It will be hard to defend our core value of humanism when people die because of our trade restrictions.
A promise is a commitment, and you must remain true to your promise. If a promise is made in the United Nations that the European Union will help obtaining the Millennium Development Goals, we will keep that promise. The European Union will start to intensify the work to obtain these goals. We do not have to do this alone; other nations will follow.
Our foreign policy will be one of bonding, unity, trust, and honesty. Helping others in any place on the planet so they can live there in peace and prosperity and in harmony with the nature that surrounds them. It will improve live in many places around the world as well as in Europe.
